Hi Everyone!

I would like to get myself another head unit for my road bike and MTB. I use a Powertap SL+ powermeter on my Road Bike, but need a spedometer that I can also use on my MTB.

Would you recommend the Garmin EDGE 500? Will it be compatible woth WKO+ software and my Powertap hub?

Also, on the MTB, will I need a spedometer, is the GPS function on it's own good enough?

On Chainreactioncycles I've got the following in my basket:

There is also a more expensive head unit? Besides HR and cadence, what are the advantages of this headunit to the first one (both EDGE 500):

There should be no difference in the head unit, one just comes bundled with the HR and Cadence sensors. (which can also be bought seperately)

The Edge 500 should also meet your needs perfectly.

It is ANT+ compatible and pairs perfectly with the wireless ANT+ Powertap.

You'll be able to utilise GPS speed, but won't be able to see cadence without the sensor.
