i think its fair to say that each dual bike will go through bearings and bushes at a different rate and some are cheap and easy to relpce and some not .

My merida was a pain and for some friggen reason i use to go through the bottom bearings in the swing arm and the bushes on the shox at a horrid rate .

Are they that bad?

Unfortunately, yes! Had my Ghost for roughly 7 months when they gave up... Took the bike in, they called it 'Wear and Tear' - was told I ride my bike too hard blink.png First session cost me R900, replaced all bearing and bushes (apparently)!!! One race later, it gave up again and I had to pull out of the race... Took it straight back to them, apparently they hadn't replaced the main bush in the rear suspension cursing.gif

Second trip cost me R300!

I really hope it lasts a tad longer than 7 months this time...

Thanks, this is not what I like to read! Who did you buy the bike from and who did the servicing?

Thanks, whats a DU bushing?

It is a bush which is pressed into the shock eyelet with a specific DU bush tool. The mounting hardware rotates inside this bush. The DU bushes and mounting hardware are wearing parts.

The DU bush has a coating on the inside which makes it sort of self lubricating.

This is what it looks like:

From Ballistic, serviced through them too!

Ja, thats a bit concerning, also bought the bike through them Sadly they were not willing to assist me when I had a problem with my Elixir brakes (they just had to phone the agent to confirm I had the brakes on the bike!). Was told its not their problem! This after only 3 weeks! If my bike has issues I wont be taking it through to them! Will rather contact another Ghost agent in the country.

The brakes are OK, I just couldn't take that squeal, wailing like a banshee on the Ghost!

Yip - the Horst link is renowned for being rafff on bearings!

If you need to replace them - just source from a local bearing shop - no need to go premium pricing.

If you want to check if your bearings are worn - just take out the shock and feel the travel on the rear triangle. if its scratchy - replace.
