Cruz Addict Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 hey guys, i have been lent a road bike for the 94.7 which i am enjoying riding, the owner has however offed to sell the bike to me and asked me to come to him with a price that i feel is fair( he is a really nice guy so trust that his asking to to get a price is to fit my pocket more than his)the problem i have is i have no clue how to price the bike as its a few years old, exact year i am not sure i am guessing its anout a 2008 or so bike. please can you give me some opinions on what a fair offer on the bike would be, the bike componentry is listed below? KHS Flite 700 road bike.60cm AN6 Aluminium frame (Easton EC70 carbon forkNeuvation radial wheels with Gatorskins tyresShimano 105 groupsetSella Italia SLK saddle Thanks guys.

Ryinc Posted October 22, 2012 Posted October 22, 2012 Agree that 7-9k seems too high. dracs' suggested offer of 4-5k sounds more reasonable to me. Think about what the components would cost seperately secondhand. Used 105 group in good condition - maybe R2-R2.5k frameset R1k, wheels maybe R1k. Plus a little bit more for the other odds and ends. Look through the classifieds to see prices of bikes with similar specs to get an idea. Dracs' point on the size is spot on, make sure you are tall enough for 60cm.

But wow, go look at the mix-match of parts on the bike... Shimano Tiagra, Ultegra, SRAM, etc!

At 60cm you had better be tall...Thanks for the replies guys, I am tall, stand at 6ft 2", have done some looking and the price of around 4k seems about right from some other classifieds I have seen, actually one of them on the hub here,Think ill make an offer of 3.5 and see how that is received, only reason to go low is the age of the bike, worst case he says he wants slightly more and we go grim there..Again thanks guys, much appreciated
Eugene Posted October 23, 2012 Posted October 23, 2012 R4 500 will be fair, however, those Neuvation wheels have a history of breaking, so you may be in for a new set of wheels too.
