I'm in E - a bit disappointed because my times for my last 6 94.7's were all comfortable sub 3 - best being a 2:36 on the "old" route. But this year I took off riding road and concentrated on MTB and duathlon, and I didn't ride last year so I suppose I shouldn't complain. I have been doing some serious training for the last 10 weeks though, and I'm looking at a finishing seeding index of about 17% (I reckon given ideal conditions, the winning time will be around 2:11), which equates to a time of around 2:45-ish. So, if there are any hubbers in E who want to "hook-it" and ride around the 2:45 mark, maybe we need to get a bunch together?

Also E - willing to give it a go but also a MTB'r.

I set off at about 9:30am if memory serves for my first 94.7 - I was about the 4th last group. Long, hot and lonely ride on an MTB. No drafting, no mates - still a jol though!

Just asking till what does it go I heard some guys are pulling away at like ten??

Looks like they put all the MTBer's in E. I am aiming for about 2:50 -2:55. So I will be keen to give it a go as well.

I finished 7th in Group C at last week's Satellite but not sure they would care - like most of these cycle races the only seeding events they consider are 6-18 months old - dont see the point in that.

So is it worth emailing the Race Office my request?

According to the website, they use the 2011 results for the Jacaranda Satellite Classic. So your result last week won't count (for this year at least).

I did 3h06 for this years amashova and was hoping to get in to the vc batch but got seeded in E batch so I am keen to get in to a good group to work together

I am in E as well. I will be on a yellow Raleigh. I want about a 2h40 so we have some work to do...

I have been down this road with the seeding as the last two years at Amashova I started in VA group and did 03h01 both times. My thought process was that I was going to slot into VA at 94.7. Have been seeded in D batch last year and this year again.

Explanation is that more riders at 94.7 with faster times therefore only so many riders can slot into VA as seeded riders and then you slot into the general classifictions based on your times for seeded races.

It does make sense that Amashova only has a couple of thousand riders as to 25000 riders at 94.7.....not unhappy as the pace is till pretty fast in D batch!

How many riders do they put in to the va, vb, and vc batches and how many in each open seeded batch??

I have been seeded in class W. I have always prior to going and focussing on MTB races been somewhere between Group A and Group C. Havn't done a road race since 2008, except for the 2012 Satellite challenge 2 weeks ago, so all those old results don't count, nor do some pretty good MTB race times at the Kalahari challenge.

I have asked for a re-seeding and they sent me documentation to fill in etc and am submitting my time from teh Satellite challenge and my MTB races this year which they will look at as well.

Apparently they only charge you the R150 if you are re-seeded and accept it, so you got nothing to lose by asking.

There is a group of 6 of us, some dropping down from VC and D, to E to ride together and have fun, as fast as we can, wearing red and black. You are welcome to hop on the bus and hook it with us.
