Selous Scout (aka LegTrap) Posted November 9, 2012 Share I bought the Scott expert carbon dual suspension which cost around R29 000 at the time.I simply love it and can certainly recommend it.At the end of the day I think it is a personal choice & what suits your back pocket. You should possibly get to ride one or two before making a decision. Apemanscolony Posted November 9, 2012 Share I have a Scott 26er Spark 30 Carbon. I want the 940 but its alu. Love the colours but just the weight.... So it feels that to go for alu after u had a Carbon, feels like downgrade!!! And my 26er weighs just under 11kg, now i have to get a 29er wwhich weighs 12kg!!! Hairy Posted November 9, 2012 Share So what type of riding do you do ... are you more trail or XC/Marathon based? just BTW ... you don't have to buy a 29'er ..."And my 26er weighs just under 11kg, now i have to get a 29er wwhich weighs 12kg!!!" Get out and test ride the bikes you are interested in, but take your time as there are many non mainstream bikes that would treat you very well. Azonic Posted November 10, 2012 Share With 30K, and if you were willing to put some effort into it, you can import your own full carbon frame, and gets bits here and there like from TheHub, CRC, CWC, etc, which is what I did. My 29'er cost me +/- R20k, and it kitted out like a R35k bike (off the shelf, "popular brand" bike). Weighs about 10kg. Haven't weighted it yet, might actually be lower.
