Anybody lost a podium position due to this?

I believe someone did get a "podium" time but was immediately DQ'ed...

When i saw it i decided that i would do it even if i landed on my ass. yes i road it and it felt great coming over the top.

I started A5, i rode 54.6Km on endo so please leave me results alone. each rider knows if they did the distance or not. just dont brag that you did 2H30 for your 55km when you did not do the distance that just sucks. if you went wrong blame the organisers not your fellow riders. its a tough one when you are comparing yourself against others when things like this happen.

Hehe, this tickles me - I also started in A5, and tracked my ride using Endomondo - measured 54.57 ... seems at least the software is consistent ;-)

Holy ****... i was right behind the younger guy (1st crash victim) who crashed and almost came off myself as we skidded on the planks to avoid him. Then 500m later the next chap in front of me hit a rock and took a tumble and dislocated his sholder.... sounds like that area was a war zone of injured people?

Definitely. One of my mates was coming down a hill, when the lady in front of him failed to uncleat herself and fell into his path. +- 40km/h into her head, proceeding to knock her unconscious for a minute or 2 and a front flip + somersault on his side and some decent roasties.

Thankfully the paramedics were nearby to assist. She came to and seemed to be ok before he continued his ride. Thank goodness for helmets. (hers was cracked). Hope you're ok lady.

The one guy (in blue toyota kit) crashed off the inside toward the end of that wooden 'bridge' we rode along. He was shouting "AMBULANCE, i need an ambulance...!!!" and clutching his forearm. I thought "shees aren't you over exaggerating a bit...?". Then he turned and faced my direction and i saw what his pain was about. Both his radius and ulna bones had snapped clean off at the wrist and were sticking completely out of his flesh, in the area where one would take their pulse, with his hand bent completely back, as if it could have just fallen off had it not been for muscle, skin, tendons and ligaments holding it on.

It actually totally rattled me. Most disturbing thing i've seen since I've been riding bikes. I'm not squeemish but i felt sick. I got closer to that green scaffold bridge and started questioning if i should just unclip and walk over it, then straight to my van n go home n take up chess rather.

I hope he heals up quickly and has proper use of his hand ASAP.

Holey moses!!!

How talented is this kid? My neighbour, 15 years old, did his first race ever, he decided to do the 55km, started in A6, finished in a time of 2:39... plus he had a puncture!

Is that an official 2:39 or a diverted one whistling.gif devil.gifwhistling.gif devil.gifwhistling.gif devil.gif

Honestly, I have my doubts, but when I asked him, he said he rode 55km's, I decided rather leave it alone... don't want to cause any neighbourly conflicts.

Just stirring the pot, the kids these days seem to have a lot more energy than I did at that age (although I was a smoker and a lazy little git). 2:39 is not that outlandish. I figure traffic may have been the biggest issue coming from the back groups

Get him to show you his garmin file, say you want to see how where he got his speed, on the climbs, down hills single track, then you'll see sommer by accident if he did the full distance.

Where do I get hold of the Racetec guys? I'm one of the legit A7 guys who did the whole 55km. I would like my results to be acknowleged in order to get a better seeding for next year. Know they sit with a dilemma which probably will never be able to be resolved 100% and also probably not their fault but rather the officials who cut the route short but I travelled far to participate and paid my dues.

Gonna have a lot of surprised riders at their next long distance race when they do 50 km plus in more than 4 hours and don't understand WHY!!!

I do however feel sorry for those that were incorrectly diverted. Not their fault.

Huge, huge mess to sort out for race office.

They should beat the 94.7 expo. Also try their website
