Don't patronize me.It's not complicated at all.Cough mixture is not illegal but Team Cough Syrup paid the penalty for swigging away.

you say to me "because its not illegal sunshine" and I am the one being patronizing?? unsure.png

You have to drink quite a lot of cough mixture to die. EPO is an extrmely dangerous scheduled and controlled drug that will kill you very easily if you use it inapropriately. The families of many cyclists have found this out first hand.

What is very disappointing is no attempt to provide any useful information. An old style unapologetic doper. No place for this type in cycling anymore

I agree with this part, Happy. Still the same old omerta going around. He's been involved through so many years and things and could've come clean with everything, but I guess he's waiting for a book deal.

On the suspension, I think two years is good and fits the "crime". Why we're being so judgemental on someone breaking a rule in sport I don't know.

Did I say that? I already said that 2 yrs is the maximum he could have gotten. The supply chain was under discussion - I disagree with the notion that the athelete should be punished but those complicit in providing the drugs are not.

Aaah. Ok. I missunderstood. I apologise.

That's a tough one cos it's not an illegal drug and ethics and the law are not the same thing.

I agree with you.I am not discussing the morals or ethics of EPO but the fact that it is freely available and there is no secret supply chain waiting to be bust.

I will give you an example.I go to Dischem and ask the lady for something for my sinus.

She gives me a generic that is not scheduled and hey presto. Then I ask if I need a script for Myprodol and she says not for 5 days treatment.Done and dusted. Many scheduled drugs here are not scheduled in Botswana for instance. No problem....I'll have some of that brand XXX anti biotic thanks

thumbup1.gif Its all good.

Look, I may be making some incorrect assumptions here, but I believe this goes beyond an ethical issue to a legal one. there are laws against distributing controlled substances. If he actually had a doctor prescribe this for him perhaps its just a breach of ethics and not illegal, but I somehow doubt that is the case here. More likely he got it from a dodgy pharmacist or it was illegally brought into the country.

Do you think he will have 'the nerve' to make a comeback to mtb?

I think so.

He broke a rule, not the law, pragmatically (speaking).

I agree that doping isn't a crime so it shouldn't be punished as one but personally I feel that the ban needs to be longer so these guys know that if they get caught they don't just sit out 2 years and come back which many have done. David is too old so he won't, but others have and will unless the rules are changed.

Why give them a 2nd chance?
