It's a new year and with the monumental amount of nonsense of here regarding Lance, motorists, cylists, douchebags, wheel sizes, slow/fast, fit/unfit etc ad nauseum I thought it helpful to assist folk looking to plan their race entries for this year by sharing yours. Here's mine:

Best one day MTB race: Lionman (no more.....sadly)

Best road race: 94.7

Best weekend away: Clarens

Best stage race: Berg & Bush Descent

Value for money: Mankele

Tougest one day race: Cradle Quest

Worst one day race: Mogale train chase (if you're not going to time it say so up front)

Special mention: Advendurance for MTN & Nissan series

Please only include events that you participated in

I started with MTBing last year and did a few fun rides and made the following two races that I have to do for 2013

The Argus MTB Challenge (29km)

Houw Hoek Mountain Bike tour (2 day event)

Slow beginnings for me

Some MTB events which are always good and not to far from Gauteng: Sabie Classic, Forest to Falls (Graskop), Magoebaskloof classic. All of them in a nice part of the country and the family gets a nice weekend away.

I started MTB races last year and my very first race was the Magalies Monster which was also the most difficult for me. As for a road race I always like the 94.7. I'm a social rider that only do one race a month, so can not comment more. I would also add that the Magalies Train chase was not well organised especially at the finish and the timing aspect.
