Quantum Theory Posted October 28, 2014 Share So assuming Enduro is basically AM for snobbish folks..........? Enduro is a style of racing, rather than a type of bike...
Steven Knoetze (sk27) Posted October 28, 2014 Share Enduro is a style of racing, rather than a type of bike.. Yeah but there is a specific setup ideal for enduro or would you first check out the terrain, route, etc and then determine which bike?Nice if you had all of the different types of course. Hairy Posted October 28, 2014 Share So assuming Enduro is basically AM for snobbish folks..........?No, ex. roadies / race snakes / ou toppies who are too old to cycle UP the hills any more when being timed .... so they use gravity assist
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted October 28, 2014 Share Yeah but there is a specific setup ideal for enduro or would you first check out the terrain, route, etc and then determine which bike?Nice if you had all of the different types of course. This, but instead of choosing the bike you choose the settings and tyres etc. Increase travel in the fork if it's a gnarly track, stiffness settings, pressure etc. Enduro IS racing All Mountain machines on trails that All Mountain riders would typically ride (highly technical and so on) with liaisons that still mean that your bike has to be able to climb. Enduro Specific is just another buzzword, which is why it gets ripped to shreds all the time by us all mountain riders. But is it #ENDURO©®? MoreTrails Posted October 28, 2014 Share Yeah but there is a specific setup ideal for enduro or would you first check out the terrain, route, etc and then determine which bike?Nice if you had all of the different types of course. No, not really. It would be convenient to know all the conditions prior to the race, however often the racing is done in a "blind" format - in other words no one gets to see the conditions prior to the event. So then it boils down to bike set up for the day, skills you possess and speed / chances you are willing to take. Some pay, some don't....If you have the luxury of a bike choice, then invariably you going to have to choose something that can handle a DH course+XC course+marathon course....so there will be a compromise somewhere.Although with modern bikes, that compromise is shrinking
nigelhicks Posted October 28, 2014 Share As Quantum said earlier "#ENDURO™©®" is a form of Racing Even if someone says they are getting an #ENDURO™©® bike its actually just an All MTN bike that they will use for #ENDURO™©® Setups change dependent on the course no matter what.Headangles change, suspension setup, travel etc. But you look at the EWS and see what bikes guys use ....Most are at 150 - 160mm if 650B .... or 140 to 160 if 29er. Graves - Yeti SB6C - 650B - 160mm travelNico Lau - Cube Stereo 160 - 650B - 180mm front fork Justin Leov - Trek Remedy 9.8 - 29er - 140mmTracey Moseley - Trek Remedy 9.8 - 29er - 140mm At some EWS rounds racers have been known to go down to 120mm 29ers - see Final Ligure last year - some dude was on a 120mm Ripley 29er So all bikes used for #ENDURO™©® are Trail or All MTN bikes. And all riders are snobs who drink fancy coffee and IPA's
