Hairy Posted May 4, 2015 Posted May 4, 2015 Maiden voyage last night, being rushed leaving a meeting late I left the pump in the car and found the back tyre had lost some pressure, so things were sketchy at speed or doing any jumps of sorts. Met a lady later (hubber) who assisted me with a quick pump in the woods and then another guy who also let me use his pump lower down the trail. Was the first time out in G-Spot, so lots of "new" factors to consider in how the bike rides (Fun trails BTW). The short ride did show the bike has huge potential, just have to dial in the cockpit and suspension setting now. Overall I think this bike is going to be very exciting!Just an update Took the Spaztic Plaztic out again the past weekend .................. and the Spaztic Plaztic is Fantaztic

Can honestly say my current spaz is THEE best bike I have not only owned but ridden! Sure it may not actually be the best bike out there but the enjoyment I get from riding this bike is next level.

If it is who I am thinking of, they have the brand new model meta's and not the one in the pic. I have ridden his bike and it is insanely nice.

The 37k one is the poverty spec one, the mid range one (with Pike RC etc) is now R48k and that excludes a dropper!! I mean you can get a Reign or Enduro with the same level of components for +/- R15k less. Don't get me wrong, sick sick bikes. Its also a pity that in SA people do not respect them much. Some gems from another thread speaking about the new Meta: "That Makro/Game stores looking bike above really wont make my list. Sorry" "The frame is only 15k coz it has "Commencal" on it. They don't have a superior suspension design that many buyers are willing to pay a premium for."

What I find impressive is how Commencal's designs have changed between models.They certainly love experimenting, redesigning and building new models from the ground up. Every Meta so far has had its suspension design re-imagined.How many big names would risk that? Instead they keep opting for sticking with that which works for them. I take nothing away from giant, trek, pyga, etc. All brilliant in their own way. But after a few years of making the same bike slacker, lower, longer, for newer models without really changing anything. how long before excitement over newer models start wearing thin?

Don't feel alone. The other day at Meerendal someone asked me whether I got my Tracer at Makro. Laughed so hard, I spilt half my coffee.
