Did i miss something, last year they started with a time trial.

 

Not this year? Not having really closely followed TDF previous years, got the impression last year the time trail was always the day 1:event.

Been a few races that started with a stage and not a TT.One of the sprinters will be in yellow tomorrow....Cavendish or Sagan

it depends on wether the organisers decide to have a poloque.. not really a stage and not numbered as one either. SOME years the tour starts with a poloque other years they don't. the next stage is always noted as stage 1 though irrespective if there was a proloque or not
