When I spoke to Sharon she said they anticipate sold out by Aug! 2200/3000 have been sold.

Is the 800 entries left for half or full?

I just emailed sharon. The entries for the half are under a 1000 left. Still plenty for the full left. I was worried about the full....

As far as I know, the 70.3 sells out earlier and earlier each year.

I've also entered and booked accommodation already. I think everyone's booking early because they're afraid of not getting an entry.

Massive FOMO for the half. Guess I got to get the credit card out!

It happened to me in my 2nd year - procrastinated and then boom! had to do a team entry and pay a lot more. You are allowed to do 2 of the 3 legs.

Entries done for 70.3......so 2 less (me and the wife)! Now just getting the training done.

Full has never sold out, but with the 10th edition it might be different next year. Know of a lot of people that want to do their 1st full next year.

Hi guys

Also considering entering both events. However, swimming is my main concern.

I have watched a couple of vids of TI (total immersion) swimming on YouTube. If you Google it you go straight to the vids and their website, which technique looks very impressive!

Been thinking of getting a coach or someone to assist with my stroke.

Those champ swimmers among us, what are your views on this or should one just get in the pool and swim your shoulders off in preperation and whilst racing or should one first spend serious time on perfecting an efficient stroke?

Your insight will be much appreciated!

This is the worst idea ever. Get a coach and get your stroke sorted out.

Otherwise you will just be struggling harder with minimal gains.

Edited to add: I've been swimming since I was a lightie (lessons etc) and would consider my stoke to be ok although definitely not a champ swimmer and I am definitely looking for a coach that can give me some tips to make my more efficient in the water

Pieter. Not that im a champ swimmer but ive swam my whole school career and done a bit of swimming in my life like robbenisland etc. ironman i did 55min swim. If you know a good swimmer ask him for some advice. Otherwise i would definately recommend going for a few lessons for stroke technique. It helps a LOT!. and will save energy and speed up your times. Really worth it. Good luck!

I would suggest getting a coach. It's much easier to learn the correct technique from the beginning, than trying to correct an incorrect technique later.

One of the most important aspects of swimming is breathing. That is something that you can practice until you get a coach. Once you know you can breathe, you are far more comfortable in the water and it's also easier to learn.

Thanks for the advice! It is sincerely appreciated.

Any of you tried TI swimming?

+1

Its easier to learn the correct technique from the beginning instead of trying to do it later. By just swimming with uncorrected technique you risk learning the wrong technique and it becomes much harder to correct (muscle memory can be a b*itch) later.

The best way is to use a reputable coach, but you can also ask someone to film you from front / back and top while swimming and use the various online guides to see what your problem areas are.
