Who achieved there times? I got a PB but wasn't what I was chasing. Had plenty of demons out there on race day and was probably the toughest one I have ever done, yet its the one I trained the hardest for.

I was 2 minutes off my (hopeful) target of 6.30, considering the mechanical drama's I had on the bike (and that for a minute or 2 I thought my race was going to be over 15km into the cycle) I will take it and stick it in the bank. 27 minutes better than my first one last year.

my folly moment was when i took on a waterbottel at the bike turnabout.felt it was nice and cold and proceeded to pull with teath at the nozzle thingy.whole cap came off and all the gu mix went over my helmet glasses top hands and handlebar.felt like i was glued to the bike untill the rain came.

I got a 6:27 for my first time, I was only aiming for a finish so I'm happy with that.

Next time will do a lot more training on the bike, I was really slow compared to everybody else.

i will have to work on this sighting thing.see today(with my glasses on) that i swam a nice long 2.4 km.its a bitch swimming when you cannot see 20 metres in front of you.to the guys i used as sighters, please practice your sighting for next year. ^_^ it will make my swim much easier seeing that my eyesight will probably be worse by next year.

Have you tried contact lenses?

You ran sub 3min/km for the last 2 k's, joh respect...plenty of potential there for a faster run in future

Recall you were worried about the cycle? how did it go?

Pushing a 100kg ex-bodybuilder's frame up some lovely long hills? :D

It was tough. But manageable.

Sadly that, coupled with a small mechanical issue and perhaps a little too long chatting with the young ladies offering refreshment, caused me to miss the bike cutoff by 7 minutes.

Thing is, I'm not even angry or disappointed. I knew my abilities and shortcomings before I entered, and now know exactly where I need improvement - ie. drop 10kg's... I've already dropped 18, so another 10 is on the horizon. :)

Still one of the best experiences I've ever had!

I beat my previous PB by 50 minutes. So I am super happy. Not quite the sub 6 I secretly hoped for, but I feel its mine next year.

Are any of you guys taking the week off for recovery before restarting your training for the Full? I am taking a 'reset' week and spending some time with family, sleeping later than 5am and just doing normal things, before starting all over again next week.

I am definitely taking this week off before getting stuck into full IM training! I might do a chilled swim to loosen the muscles tomorrow and I'm even having a big night on Friday to get all the partying out before no drinking for 2 and a half months!

Enjoy the break! Let your body recover fully before you start training again!

Nah, too much work to do before full IM :)

Swam yesterday, running and biking today.

Bad luck - but great attitude. 10kg's will make a MASSIVE difference.

that sounds like a good plan

Yup, doing exactly that as well! A bit concerned about finding the time for the 9 weeks left to up the ante - but will make a plan. Nothing like being motivated by fear!
