Finally!

To all the guys looking to come with we are finally open for business. If you would like to make the 2014 trip I'm afraid you need to pay a deposit. The deposit will pay for your plane ticket as well as the deposit on accommodation. The deposit is fully refundable if you pull out until such time we book the plane tickets. Then a standard airline cancellation fee kicks in. There are only 20 slots available and the bookings will be done strictly on a first come first serve basis. The deadline for bookings is 30 November.

I'm trying my level best to get us reasonable airline tickets for July. Unfortunately the football World Cup is also on in July so that is proving difficult. Our proposed dates are as follows.

Option 1. Depart 5th July Returning 19th July.

Option 2. Depart 2nd August Returning 16th August.

I'm trying for option 1. Failing that it will be option 2.

The trip includes the following.

Return plane ticket (Economy) from JHB or CT to Geneva

Return airport shuttles to Morzine from Geneva

12 day lift pass for the PDS

13 nights accommodation in Morzine

Breakfast and Dinner

Access to my encyclopedic knowledge on the trails, shops, bike mechanics, bars, lift times, bus pickups etc in the area

If you are in please deposit R12000 into the following bank account

Name: SA Alpine Addiction

Acc No: 1056570180

Bank: Nedbank

Branch: Pinelands

Branch Code: 104709

Also please send proof of payment, a scanned copy of your passport and the airport you want to fly out of. The balance of R10000 will need to be paid closer to the time. 31 March will be the deadline. Remember you will need to obtain a visa if you have an SA passport. I've got all the details you need for the visa. You will need travel insurance and of course spending money.

Cheers

Should have everything sorted at the end of September. What is the cost for the Visa?

Might need to renew my passport also.

A Visa costs 60 Euro. There are a few things you need to have in order to get a visa. You need a valid passport, booked and paid for airplane ticket, travel insurance and booked (not necessarily paid for) accommodation. You won't get a multi entry first time out but on my second application i got a multi.

Awesome. Will check the status of mr passport tonight and then get the ball rolling. I dread the renewal process in JHB.

I go HUGE when it comes to travel insurance. You do not want to pay to get airlifted off an Alp to a Swiss hospital and have to pay out of your pocket. I get 50mil in emergency medevac etc from flight centre. It's called leisure comprehensive for around R800. You don't have to get your plane ticket from them to get insurance there. The credit card stuff doesn't cover "extreme" sports and seems more suited to grannies on bus tours.

It's stupid to potentially compromise your families financial future for a few hundred rand. This is one area where you should not compromise.

Yup. You see an ambulance every day over there. 7000 riders. People do get hurt. The trails are steep. And guys do ride beyond their skill levels. (No names mentioned)

But if you're clever You'll have the trip of a lifetime
