vinylguy Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 ok so i have a merida big nine xt i want to upgrade my seatpost and stem they are currently Merida Pro K OS, -17° - Stem Merida Pro K SB0, 27.2 mm - seatpost i want to upgrade to ritchey wcs stem and seatpost, except for the bling factor will their be any advantage?
MrJacques Posted June 5, 2013 Posted June 5, 2013 Probably a bit of weight saving. I'd rather upgrade the wheels on that bike as the stock ones are a bit heavy and it would be more a more noticeable upgrade.

You will save weight.Usually when changing these elements the most noticible change to your ride experience comes from upgrading your handle bar from Aluminium to carbon. It certainly does dampen/absorb a lot of the trail chatter and is easier on your wrists etc. Stem would assist this too, but there are some very light aluminium stems out there eg Ritchey C260Seatpost change is cosmetic and weight saving too.

I bought a Stevens that came with OEM parts and they were lighter than the Ritchey WCS parts i bought.I just didn't like the colour in the OEM stuff.Would have kept it had i known it was lighter.
