ja exactly....actually fork is suppose to be serviced at 100 hours so is air cannister....chain will probably be right on the verge of being replaced and cabling is cheap enough to replace while its at the shop so you might as well do it....Those are musts based on 150 hours imo

The rest is adhoc...if fubar, replace, if not, do nothing

Honderd bedonerd, I agree but the man said he had only ridden 700k's so I assumed it's just started to 'loosen up' :whistling:

I am just going on the numbers he has given....fork and air cannister is a must, its actually overdue I reckon and replacing uppers on a fork is a costly exercise on high end forks...if they get scratched because of dirty seals....you can never fix it, they have to be replaced.

Also the single reason I love my SS donkey, nothing fancy, nothing to go wrong, nothing I can't fix with a screwdriver, hammer and pot of grease.

I would have thought that 50 hours was a better guess. So all I would check is if the RD was out of tune and top up the sealant if need be.

I don't see how a chain would be on the verge of being replaced when I get no less than 3400km on a chain.

The fork is only at approx 1500 to 2000 km minimum

Agree with NSBB clean, lube and tune.No sweat.Dont put the fear of god into a new oke.The chain should be fine etc etc

 I get 1000km but then again my cassette stays crisp and never skips and I ride in any weather...5 chains to cassette and replace whole lot(Shimano XT chain). Also said he must measure it and see if it needs replacing...not just do it.

My halflink is another story, I have lost count on km's

Read the manual kranswurm....its not a feeling its a must, also you go on hours ridden not km on forks and shocks....100 hours in the case of a RS maybe even less on a fox....

you obviously ride the same chain till the entire drivetrain needs to be replaced. I get about 2000k till my chain is at or beyond 1/16th wear

I replaced my drivetrain last week after 10 312km. I got a cassette, chain rings (2x10) and pulleys, and get 3 chains per cassette.

EDIT: I use Shimano 105 chains (yes it is a road chain.)

How do you fix a worn chain with a hammer and screwdriver? :) :)

But you are right that an SS is low maintenance...

hehehe you don't, you adjust the tensioner...no tools needed.

That is seriously good going....I log my hours in sporttracks and are no where near that on a drivetrain.

bliksem - I was quite chuffed with the 4500 odd km I got on my 42t chainring (2x10). The cluster is okish and the 28t chainring is virtually unused..I am rather going to do the entire drivetrain.......but 10000k's!!!!
