DT Swiss M520 are VERY HEAVY ( and too narrow), Put some Stans ZTR Crest rims on your AM Race hubs, handbuilt, strong and reliable option. Or Arch rims to be safe. ( I think 50 grams more per rim), or try the new American classic 101 rims.

Mavic SLR are too narrow for me and expensive , with some hub issues.

Shimano XT also too narrow and rather heavy, with open bearings.

I like my 520's I pretty much slam into everything and they have never buckled, they lighter than my previous set of Alex rims but I'm not to fussed about weight.

Chris king hubs will be pushing it a little out of budget :)

What other hubs are comparable to hope?

And where is the best place to source ZTR Flow's or WTB i23 rims? Anyone have any ideas? Would like to compare the price... :)

I use a set of 520s almost daily, on my commuter, yes strong,( so actually like them for training) but When I put Crest or AM race wheels on bike , you do feel a huge diference in acceleration and tyre profile

Ss I have been out for a few rides with the new wheels now. Totally quiet (no creaking), and they feel a ton more solid under me.... The hope hubs are not as annoying as I thought they'd be. But they do seem to be a little louder now than my first ride.... anyways, just an update :)

Really cool build. I've been thinking about the WTB rims for a while now.

Can you post a few more pics of the whole wheels one the bike, and maybe an idea of what it cost in the end?
