Yhea, I was going to ignore it, until you started lecturing me about etiquette. Then I lost it.

Nice. Pulling fights from other threads over to your own one. I assume you like to boks.

Back to the topic, whether you want to believe it is safe to cycle without a helmet or not is up to you, but it is law, yes law, in our country to wear a helmet. I feel safer wearing one, and would not be without one on my bike. If you, like many other enjoy disregarding the law, in any way, carry on.

Hahaha... classic hub debate this.

If you don't want to use a helmet cos you're too cool or it messes with your hairdo - go ahead, do as you please, it's a free world! But please, please, put a helmet on your little head at all times so that in the future we don't need to have these little waste of time debates

My 2cents: I love my life and look forward to many years of great experiences with the lekker people in it... If wearing a helmet increases my chance of surviving an accident by even half a percent, no matter how big, small or unexpected a crash or incident - then I'm gonna wear a helmet. Like I said, do as you please :whistling:

We were riding the Paarl downhill trails one day and one of my mates never reached the bottom of the trail. They dropped me off at the top and i rode down and eventually found him sitting in the bushes, lekker confused.

He could not remember how he got there, it looked like he hit his head moerse hard and the helmet was split open.

Turned out he also broke his arm that day. Today he is fine but he does'nt ride Downhill anymore, I dont even want to think what could have happened if he didnt have a helmet on.

IF YOU DONT WEAR A HELMET WHEN YOU RIDE, YOU'RE STUPID, IT WILL SAVE YOUR LIFE.

Please note, that is not my reason.

If the helmet split open, it did not help. Please read http://www.cyclehelmets.org/1209.html.

Dude, really? It split open due to it absorbing the shock, which would otherwise have been absorbed completely by your scull, ie cracked open skull!!!

go fall on a rock with the helmet, cracking/splitting the helmet. Once you have done that and did it again without the helmet. Then come with your story back to us, if you are still alive.
