Tomorrow stage hosts the Angliru:

The 12.5 kilometre climb has an average of 10.13% gradient, with a short descent about halfway up. The last half of the climb is the brutal part, with an average of 13.1%. The Buena les Cabres, only 3k m from the finish, has a 23.6% gradient, and two later ramps are 18-20%. It is not uncommon for riders to walk their way up the steepest sections.

Nibali

“I can’t climb at 500 watts. I was going at 430 watts and that guy accelerated. What could I do?”

Is Nibali refering to Horner here? Have not been able to watch the race lately.

Nibali is playing the "he must be cheating" card but is also trying to be politicly correct at the same time.....

Hopefully Horner does not run out of spook asem today

If i was a gambling man I would put money on Nibali today to snatch it from Horner...think he has a good chance and might have been playing cyclings version of poker up to now.

Hope i'm wrong, go Gramps

At 42 Horner suddenly produces the same wattage as LA? Watch this space!

Has the power data been published, or is it just based on the power of suggestion

Anyway, why cant a 42 year old produce power like that, the problem with being 42 is that you cannnot do it for a whole season and need more time to recover between efforts.

Enjoy the racing, even if your perd aint winning

Yip! Maybe you need a little bit more in the syringe but if dosage is right then why not put out those watts at 42

I think Horner is going to win it.

He may very well be doping, but I think he won't be caught now. If anything, he will be caught through retroactive testing.

If he is proven to be clean, good on the old guy!

His climbing prowess has been documented before.

I watched him in the ToC two years back (the day Gesink won). He and Quintana were streaks ahead of everyone else that day. He climbed that day like he is doing in the Vuelta this year. They were in the break so long, and the final climb was so long, he ran out of power, and Quintana dropped him easily - Gesink too.

The Angliru will be a great leveller. If the peleton pushes the pace before the final ascent, Horner could be in trouble.

Today will be the day the Vuelta is won or lost.

It has been published . He did 68.2 W/Kg. Normal is considered around 62. His VAM was 2024, shattering al previous records. Held by AC and Froome.

By the way , I don't have a perd in tje race.

Impossible, that would mean if he weighs 60Kg he was pushing 4092W!!!

Lots of head scratching going on, he climbed the hill at about 1.5 kmph faster than anyone previously, thats a big gain!
