Jaco-fiets Posted September 18, 2013 Share Not sure if you're on a 29er or 26er, but been riding using a 34 up front with an 11-36 up until this week. Handled Tokai just fine. Will send you a PM now. 29er! Thanks for the info in pm
Heel Drop Posted September 19, 2013 Share http://www.thehubsa...._st__-16#entry1 Comes in 36, 38 & 41 without the hassle - need to be a unit ready to install - kcnc does one but flippen expensive
Flowta Posted September 19, 2013 Share without the hassle - need to be a unit ready to install - kcnc does one but flippen expensive It's not that much of a hassle if you don't mind a jump in the gearing at some point in the cassette. Put on larger sprocket, take out smaller loose sprocket, install and off you go. But it is not as bling or light as the KCNC one

Erroli8a8 Posted September 26, 2013 Share Hi All. just to throw a spanner in the works. why would it if any be an advantage to change from 3x9 speed to 1x10 if i could go streight to 1x9 with a 11-39 cassette? the ratios will be there and there will be less cash? http://www.actiontec.us/ticog.htm
Ysterperd Posted September 26, 2013 Share Agreed, it would make sense but for the price. @ R10/$ it would set you back close to R3 600 for the cluster. Mind you will however be able to change single cogs as and when they wear. servventer Posted October 15, 2013 Share 29er! Thanks for the info in pm Please share some of the wisdom. I'm still deciding between a 32t vs 34t with 11-36 setup. I've been testing the ratios and the upper difference between 0.889 (32t) and 0.944 (34t) is a lot on your legs.

There is no way I will be able to ride all the terrain in my surroundings with a 32 up front and a 11/36 at the back. I will get an additional 34t blade for races such as karoo to coast or 7 weekspoort
JJ Posted October 16, 2013 Share I've done the general lee conversion on a pg 1070 cassette with the wolf chainring upfront, 34t and a x9 RD. I've got some issues when the chain hits the GL adapter it takes ages to get on it? I've had it at my LBS but cant seem to get the shifting smooth. anyone experiencing the same issue? any advise on how to fix the problem? Btw I love the conversion so far and haven't run out of gears as of yet.

Btw I love the conversion so far and haven't run out of gears as of yet. Did the conversion and also had same issues, read all there is to read done all there is to be done. It worked fine for the first few weeks then bang it lost the plot. It wears to quickly and at different rate to SRAM.. Got rid of it and went back to 11/36, just train more......... Btw I love the conversion so far and haven't run out of gears as of yet. I agree with copperhead, I've got a similar issue although is its manageable, I sized my chain with the old smaller sized cassette (put chain on largest ring at the back without routing it through the RD, ran it over the chain ring and then cut it with 2 links to spare, I used 4 to be safe) when I shift up to the largest sprocket on the GL the RD hanger body momentarily touches the cassette ever so slightly, I'll play with it this weekend but think if my chain had 2 more links it would be spot on. Pop the bike on a work stand and do some slow shifts onto the big sprocket at the back and keep an eye on the RD hanger to see if it clears, you may need to adjust the screw that Flowta has pointed out. Bear in mind as well that when you have have such big jumps between sprocket sizes on the cassette shifting isn't exactly going to be crisp and you'll need to edge it on easily between shifts. Flowta Posted October 17, 2013 Share Does the GL come in 9 sp? Are you using a 10sp on a 9 sp cluster? No he's using a SRAM 1070 cassette (10 speed) and the derailleur is SRAM X9 (not x9 as in 9 speed) Dirtbreath
