Thanks sam

I will do that either way they can make the right call but I think allmtb is correct the disc is coming apart from the pins

It irritates me that I collected the bike today from a service only for me,the amateur to discover this problem

Honestly the worst experience, what a joke.

The brake is just one of many issues the only thing they did was swipe my card.

I will try another bike shop tomorrow hopefully they can help

Who/ where is this shop of fools?

I'd go back and complain, people can't take good money and do bad work. No need to mention who it was, ask them to complete the work they charged you for.

I did complain but looking at the big picture is it worth going back, they could not even put the right Tyre pressure in the wheels, not that they checked, maybe it is just a good learning curve, you want a bike shop you can trust, a LBS who you can build a relationship with and they have a history on your bike and requirements,

Fair enough, hope you find one that is worthwhile. It's frustrating to hear of shops that are happy to take your money, but aren't too interested in giving good service.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with that disc. Shimano's splined, centre-lock rings do that. It is a feature of the design (non-tapered spline) and doesn't come into play when you ride.

When you ride, you only force the disc to the one extreme of the play and never reverse to complete the lash effect.

Tightening it will not help. Stick to the recommended torque and go for a ride.

This is something I considered, however the rear brake is exactly the same and it has zero play or movement.

Secondly when you lift the handle bars, spin the wheel and then hit the brakes you can hear a very obvious CLUNCK sound coming from that disc.

If you have a pin and rivet system with play, I believe that with movement the holes will get bigger and the play will increase, just my opinion but I will get it checked out.

I think that is a designed to be a replaceable brake disc, one bolt to remove the disc and screw another one on.

It says you live in Sea Point. I'd go to John o Connor Cycles or Action in Town. I've no experience with John o Connor but Action know their stuff. You do pay a little extra but they are damn good.

Yes, but only if there is lash. If you just ride forward, then there will be no lash.

However, all this is in degrees of severity and e-mail/postings won't determine that. Get a second opinion or play with various discs.

So I took the bike to Cycle Lab, the guys were amazing, they say that the disc movement does happen however that wear should not have happened on such a new part, it is safe to ride but with further wear it will have to be replace.

Steve made some change to the front calipers, aligned the handlebars{big difference) advised that the sealant in the tyres had dried out and sold me some necessary accessories.

I have found my LBS
