DT Swiss Nude 2 Issue

On my Scott - I have a Nude 2 shock (as comes standard). The first one lost pressure overnight, it was replaced and the new one has been working well for over a year now.....until Sat.

I decided to check the rebound setting on the Fri, adjusted the rebound fully open, then fully closed riding over a pavement to get a feel of the return speed, then adjusted to the middle until I got what I felt was about right - fast/slow.... Since then, and for the whole race on sat (good thing the route was edited (USN #5)) it has only had half the normal travel. This happens irrespective of which mode it is in (apart from lockout of course). I have tried fiddling with the rebound, let all the air out and re-pumped it and the same result. It seems to work fine, apart from the travel which now stops half way.

I have sent it in - but was wondering if anyone had had the same experience....and what caused/causes it.

yup, same thing, but,[and this suprized me] i was out on the trails and i found that i could inflate it with my little hand pump

I presume u refer to loosing pressure and not the reduced travel.....

Makes sense that could pump it with a hand pump in terms of connection - just won't be able to get the same pressure I would have thought.

Just check you remote lock if it is not dry. I had the same issue and found that the cable sometimes get stuck in the tube ( if that makes any sense) I took the cable out of the tube, spayed some Q20 down into it and some on the remote lock mechanism. If leaking some air check that the small cap that fit the inflation valve has its rubber o-ring inside. If not, replace it

The remote lock seemed to be working fine - would adjust the shock harder and softer as per norm - the travel still only goes half way and stops. It is a solid stop, like hitting something solid, not a progressive fade to a point.

(Luckily I have had no leaks since the last one was replaced....)

Oil in the IFP chamber, causing the damper piston to connect with the floating piston before the end of the stroke. The service will sort it out.

Thanks droo - have no clue what that means, but sounds technical enough to be the right problem. If there is oil in the IFP chamber, I guess that means the seals are leaking.....is this normal for after a year?

Quite a few threads about those crap DT Swiss shocks on Scott bikes here...

The shocks work well when they work - varied opinions and so on, but to change/upgrade is pricey and the fox RP whatever does not work with the twinlock system - which I really like. Find it very handy to be able to switch between modes - not everyones cup of tea, but I like buttons and gadgets, so works for me. I hear about all the brain technology, but they are all mechanical in nature, no AI built in to shocks.

However - at the risk of starting another string of commentry on DT Swiss Shocks - I agree with you!

yah, its a POS. I have had issues with mine too. No wonder new Scotts use Fox.

Are they running Fox with the twinlock system on the new Scotts?

Aren't they using CTD by Fox, which is how Twinlock should work?

I hear the new scotts are coming out with FOX CTD shocks which will include the dual remote lockout. would love to upgrade my Superfly to that system

Mine makes a clicking sound when locked out

As far as I understand, the clicking noise is normal....mine does (did) it as well.

( To get rid of it, make sure the saddle squeak is louder and you won't notice it anymore.)

Twinlock has 2 air chambers - in reduced travel mode, only the first is active, giving a progressive spring rate. In full travel mode, the second chamber opens up which makes the spring rate more linear, increasing the amount of travel at the end of the stroke.

CTD is a platform / low speed compression adjustment with 2 settings and a bypass - the spring rate stays the same in all settings.
