But I anyways use slime in my road tubes.

Does it work/help?

I have tried it once before but found the slime just blew out of the puncture holes and only started sealing at around 4bar. Never ever bothered again. Cant ride them at 4bar so what is the point?!

it helps for the small stuff. If its a gash, then you're stuffed anyways. But things like a nail/piece of wire, it works fine. Also, I'm running gatorskins, so that prolly helps as well.

hell - in hidsight, i could prolly lose 2kg just but changing tyres and removing slime ;)

I assume you're talking about tubulars or "tubbies"? Normal rims are clincher and the two tyres are not interchangeable. Below are the two cross sections.

Tubbies are lighter (but not really because you need to carry a spare tyre in your pocket for in case you get a flat) and are quite a bit more expensive for tyres. They are okay for racing but definitely not training considering our road conditions.

Normal clinchers are heavier but are much easier to repair when you get a flat, you just replace a tube...

As for puncture resistance, they are probably on par with one another and I suppose it also depends on your luck. ;)

You get tubeless road wheels these days as well. They are not tubbies, but normal clinchers that don't use tubes.
