So I usually ride the green trail at rietvlei but I felt so fresh this morning that I decided it'll be blue for me. It was awesome. The jumps toward the end were so much fun the rock gardens are difficult but doable and I even had a meerkat running out in front of me for about a km around the vlei.

I have one question though...who the $!@? Is Wendell and why is he taking revenge on me? I almost died going up that hill.

Wendell, some say he makes 100m into 500m of pain and suffering.

He runs the cycle park as well as Thaba trails.

We tend to only do blue, try going all the way up Wendell's revenge and going left at the top into the black or right into the proper blue technical sections, some really tough sections but perfectly doable and fun.

Go to Thaba if you really want to know how much Wendell hates you :)

Ill try thaba next weekend

Take one singlespeed...32 x 18 gearing...rigid, do the complete blue trail at rietvlei...up to the eagle's nest or something like that. It's a nice piece of humble pie if you think you are technically good and fit.

That new segment towards the end of A loop is freaking amazing, stunning climbs

If you're talking about Mzuzu, its actually an old section that was there before the course ran in the direction it does now. It interfered with Thaba's 1st downhill so he closed it. Now re-opened with some tweaks. One of my fave blue bits.

That's the one, fav section on par with the section at the top against the fence over the rocks.

hey guys sorry for the hi-jack, as i'm new to the world of mtb i was wondering where i can get contact details and info on the fee's at reitvlei, when i do a google search Thaba keeps coming up and from what i know geographically and from what you guys are saying is that Thaba and reitvlei are two different places.

2 different places but only about 1km apart, Thaba is on Klipriver drive and Rietvlei is on Swartkoppies.

I'll PM you my number, I'm back from Bulgaria on the weekend and we can make a plan to introduce you to the world of MTB'ing.

First ride and coffee is on me, :-). Normally R25 per day / ride, although the 10 ride card it R150 so If you are in the area and will be making use of the parks more often then its definitely a good idea to get a card (Available from either shop).
