I had a nice 45km race as well. Nearly collided with an 8 year old coming around a corner on single track. Definitely do it again. Did not like the mud though.....

It's not really the bike's fault that it landed up in the dam :P

My Epic did just fine today and was very comfortable around those slippery anti camber corners :D

It really was a very cool race. The only issue is the portage. I would really like to see a rideable section of single track coming down from the top.

I was thinking during the portage that I would happily pay R50 or R100 more and see the portage section built out to a fast but ridable single track downhill. How awesome would that be!!!! The way is was today the hard work of the climb felt a bit like a waste....

Other than that the race was awesome!

Ryan, btw, the 1x10 was just fine :-)

One more rant: The wrap that I bought after the race was so tiny that I had to search for it in the paper bag. Backberg guys, Mountainbikers are hungry after 1700m of climbing up and down your hills, they need food! Not what I had. So next year, pls....

Welldone for being the first lady Rapunzel

Thank you Mr A001 :-) (nearly pipped your strava times on the descent - you must have had more than my 9 lives)

My wife saw a tandem going up the mountain on Saturday!! Does anyone know whether they made it down in one piece? I can't imagine going through the portage with a tandem - and those decents

Hectic!

I was also impressed by the guy on the single speed keeping up with us up that hill.

My ride did not start well. 1.6 km in I had a flat. Replacing tube...everyone passed me...everyone! Getting to the top I was so frustrated trying to get to the groups...only to find the portage. By then I was becoming impatient...it was not a good state of mind to be in when the ride-able descent started...to top it of, with 28 km to go, my front derailleur no-longer shifted from the middle blade. Save for the portage, it was a fantastic route and in spite of my technical difficulties enjoyed myself.

Bummed I missed it. Too many races coming up - would have loved to see how I fared with some of the competition. Anyone doing Elgin?

Yip, cant wait. I think online entries close today. That should be really good, not too happy about it being on Sunday, but that route is gonna be so much fun.

Yip, it's unfortunate that it's on a Sunday but a big event nonetheless. Also, a W2W seeding event so I have to do it.

Just been on the PPA site, and the Elgin race is fully subscribed, and no late entries taken. Glad I entered in time for once.
