Wez-O Posted September 9, 2013 Share If you are doing a lot of road races I'd definitely say get a road bike! Carbon preferably but there are also some very good (and light) alloy bikes such as the Cannondale CAAD 8.
gummibear Posted September 9, 2013 Share Its not the frame material but the engine that determines speed. A good quality aluminium frame is better than a low quality carbon one.If I had to buy a new frame, Cannondale CAAD10 would be at the top of my list.At the end of the day it's about geometry and tube shaping.Cannondale seem to be spot on with the CaaD10.Seen many of the local races won on them and they built to 6.8kg.Sure they could get them lighter to at a price. At the end of the day it's what you want and your budget.I'd go for a good alu frame with Ultegra over a bad carbon frame with 105 parts. Headshot Posted September 9, 2013 Share How long is a piece of string? You don't really think asking a question like this on the Hub is a good way to make a decision do you?
jdvisagie Posted September 9, 2013 Share For the road.... Carbon all the way. MTB, not as important.... Wheels, tyres and components more important. Wez-O
