Howdy.

So I met Grant going for a walk in my complex the other night. Good guy. Looking forward to going for a few rides with him once I'm a little more fit and skilled.

I didn't even realise modderfontein had a cycle park, and it's so close to work. He's apparently building a trail at the old Huddle Park golf course. Should be fun.

That has been on the cards for a while.....good to hear its finally getting off the drawing board.

And I can ride there from home.....super cool!

Any idea of when it will be complete ?

according to their website the trails will be open in 2014 but you can go cycle there now - just stay off the greens - that's what I was told :-)

hoping to go check it out over the weekend as it's just down the road from me!!!

Edit: They did suggest riding in groups though - so if you go during the week when it's quiet - be wary and safe!

How much did you have to pay. I think it's unlikely they'll get too many Km but it's close to home, I may even brave riding up links field there. Found this

I went there today, and had fun - nice safe little training ground right on my doorstep for after work arvie rides.

I spoke to the oke in the office, who was non committal about what they are planning on charging. He mentioned a figure of R20, which I think is fair - 40 bucks is over the top, imo , and I told him that.

I predict some conflict between the MTB'ers and golfers when it becomes more popular, as the golfers and the carts have right of way, so I guess its a matter of time before the Stravassholes and the golfers have words.

Its a really nice place for a family to enjoy their bikes together.

With the roads being as dangerous as they are, I am gonna spend a lot of time there, for sure.

I rode there today and R20 is fair. Any more is not justified as the distances are very short plus having to wait or watch for golfers and flying golfballs.

what time do they close, maybe i'll go annoy the golfers with my bike and squeaky toy after work.

I rode Huddle park this morning, well marked out short routes, do green route 3 or four times - will be a good work out. Ideal for early morning or late afternoon ride.  Need to support this initiative as Huddle park has been "saved" for all to use,  not just golfers - great piece of greenbelt in the city where we can ride being secure. No charge for now - dont know what they will charge but will happily pay a reasonable fee R20 -R40. Check out http://www.huddlepark.com/ and you will see why it is worth supporting.
