I agree. Another reason not to bring your dog to Tokai.. but you see that is your argument in reverse. A lot of dog walkers and horse riders flaunt the rules and place themselves and "pets" in unnecessary danger.

If they are breaking the law, make a point and report them to the nearest official and get them to take action

I have experience of being arrested in Limietberg on my XR..... not very pleasant. We did behave after that

So long ago it was before god invented bullets

Dude I feel for you, but when a problem exists, we cannot discuss it for fear that others in different parts of the world may be experiencing something worse?

If that's the case, I'll never say I am hungry again because I know zanu-pf has killed or chased out all their farmers!

Yah I know man I'm just sommer stirring a bit (perhaps out of jealousy of all the beautiful rides you dudes have down there!). Enjoy and be safe!

Yesterday whilst descending from the mast we almost had an altercation with a group of ladies (think there were 4 ladies), each with two (or more) dogs that were not on a leash, walking up the tar road. There were four of us descending and we had to take fairly hard action coming round one of the bends to avoid animals and ladies scattering. "Where are your bells?". they shouted. We apologised profusely, and then also suggested that their dogs should be on leashes.

Apart from being civil and treating follow hikers and walkers with respect, what are the written or unwritten rules about right of way about descending (at speed) and dogs?

I thought any dogs in Tokai had to be on a leash ??

That is true, but IIRC the baboons don't head that high up. Which is why you can take dogs to Silvermine.

I live in Hout Bay directly over the saddle on the way to the mast and there hasn't been any sighting of baboons that side.

Just the ones taking their dogs for a walk without leashes :whistling:

I'd better rein you in and keep you on a short leash, else some guys will accuse you of not reading the whole thread. The short answer seems to be yes.

Several issues.

1. Tokai is a no dog area

2. Baboons eat dogs

3. Unsuspecting cyclists do not expect dogs in Tokai, refer point 1

4. Telkom mast access is via Telkom serviced jeeptrack, vehicles on this road is expected.

The original post of this thread says that they WERE ON the TAR road so therefore you should be expecting vehicles on this road!!!!!!!!
