Trek Superfly 100 Elite AL vs Giant Anthem 1

PapaRed

Recommended Posts

I can get a Trek Superfly Elite for R21k or the Giant Anthem 1 for R23.5k from Westdene Cycles.

Two questions:

1. Which bike would you recommend?

2. Anyone know if I can get a better deal anywhere else?

I'm leaning toward the Giant because I have heard really good things about it. The only thing I've heard is that the Elixir brakeset is not as good as the Shimano.

Many thanks!

I have the Trek Superfly 100 Carbon model, and I love it. I cannot fault anything on it.

Go and ride both. You will know which one you want after that

I would have said Trek, but with my recent experience with the distributor I would be very reluctant to buy any Trek related equipment.

Many thanks for the posts so far! I have heard a few bad things about the Trek South Africa guys..

To throw a spanner in the works Cagees is getting the 2014 Giant Anthem 1 in for R22.7k. The specs are the same except they are now using the Shimano brakes. Just wondering how the new frame will stack up against the 2013 model?

Sound advice to go and ride both of them and see which one I prefer!

IMHO, that 2014 Giant Anthem X1 29er is the best value for money you can buy. Very good XC bike that does not mind being abused in the trails...

Read some reviews on the Superfly, and the "Twitchy on downhills" comments make me very scared!

The only problem with the 2013 model in my opinion was the brakes, but with the SLX on the 2014 model, you can not go wrong!
