Opinion: Why I would vote for Brian Cookson

By Jonathan Vaughters:

I don’t pretend to understand the art of politics. And I’ve proven very poor at politics, that is certain. My experience in that world, as AIGCP President, made me never want to rejoin the world of politics in cycling and almost made me want to leave the sport entirely. Even recently, many of my friends

and advisors have been telling me I should not get involved in the fray of the UCI election, as it usually (as you’ll see below) leads to thinly veiled threats to me or my team.

I enjoyed that. Thanks. Does anyone know who CSA is supporting?

Don't know, but both Cookson and Fat Pat* were in PMB for the MTB Worlds.

If Pat McQuaid wins the UCI election today, Willie Newman of @Cycling_SA would do well to say how he voted.

*There was a report about two certain drunk hubbers, a bike importer and a certain well-known SS rider calling him a very, very bad word… :whistling:

A couple of months ago CSA stated they would support who ever Africa is supporting - in this case Fat Pat :(

It's a secret ballot but apparently Africa's votes is destined for Pat

Andrew pushed the CSA for an answer on who they/we're voting for live on SuperSport and twice the beloved CSA official refused to answer.

I don't get it. Why all the secrecy? Secrecy just leads to w anchors like Fat Pat being voted in.

If Fat Pat gets voted in again I will happily write the UCI off. The man is a throw back from cycling's dirty past and needs to be removed as part of the cleansing process.

Leaving Fat Pat in place is like making Lance Armstrong the riders representative...

You can't make this s**t up...........As Algerian delegate says he wants to watch the U23 race, an Algerian rider crashes into a bollard.
