DieBees. You remind me of a dog chasing a car. Now that you actually caught up to the car you do not know what to do with it. Go for it and ride you bike.

I'm trying ahrd to think what I'd do if given that (or a similar) opportunity ... sho. I dunno if I'd actually like to be a pro rider, where you MUST ride your bike .... at what point will it become work?

Ha ha, you guys are funny, sorry for the late response, I WAS OUT CYCLING, while some of you were working... :whistling:

So a few answers to some of the questions.

No pay cut, we have awesome coffee makers rouxtjie  I took him up on the offer, I will have to do this. I cannot possibly decline such an offer and not feel guilty.

We are part of a security dealer network in South Africa, nationally, so because my income is based on the sales we do, I will only affect myself negatively if I do not perform. My wife is my P.A. and works from home and she has agreed to man my phone while I'm out on my bike.

Traditionally I'm a roadie, but moved to the Western Cape (West Coast) and also started loving MTB as all of you would come to expect.

I used to be quite a good cyclist, back in the beautiful 90's. On provincial level and went to Europe for a youth tour blah blah... I am 31 years young. So there is still a lot I can achieve! I think it is more about feeding the beast in me than anything else.

I was in fear of making a success, but the only thing I can do is taking it one day at a time and utilizing the opportunity that I have received.

So, mmm. I will be focusing on being on my bike consistently. I have a friend that does some serious coaching on an international level so he will be assessing me in a month or so.

Other than that, I will see how to handle this one day at a time.

As the saying goes "careful what you wish for" Boy did you make a rod for your own back here. So you better produce results

I would get your boss to buy buy in to your program and progress on your goals if you go for it so that he sees that you are doing some stuff and not just parking easy. That way he sees that what you said was serious and that you really are committed to improvement.

Even get it formalized in some sort of agreement with him. And have a copy of that letter lodged in your HR file so if you ever come under fire for it you can show you agreed it and have results.

Happy pedaling. Cause now you cant back out.

I've been thinking carefully about this.

Its sound too good to be true, so there has to be something diabolical behind it.

For 3 hours a day, your boss knows you're not at work, or at home
