Sticky Fox fork

The Fox fork on my new Trance feels quite 'sticky' on the first couple of cm's of travel. In comparison my Epicon feels pretty slick as soon as you press down on the bars The Reba I had was also a lot smoother when begining its travel.

 

Is this how Fox forks generally feel? I did drop the lowers last week and check the foam ring and soaked them again in oil.

New Trance. How old is new?

 

Sounds like the fork needs to bed in still.

Is it brand new? The bushings can take a little while to settle in if they haven't been perfectly reamed at the factory, but if it lasts past the first hundred km or so then get whoever you got the bike from to give Omnico a shout.

 

ps. Don't let it slip that you took them apart. They won't like that at all.

Well, its new as bought in Sept this year but its a 2011 model. I thought I am supposed to take them apart to do the 15hr lowers service? Bike has done around 700km so far.

Hmm... still sounds like a tight bushing. Give Russel at Omnico a shout and see what he can do for you.

Thanks. I was thinking that seeing how the forks were probably assembled in 2010, that the seals might be a bit hard now or something?

Put the bike upside down for 30 minutes of so and see if it changes the 'feel' of the fork.
