Shipping from USA using MyUSA.com or Reship.com

Hi there,

I was online shop browsing in some US shops and came along the frameset that I always wanted - marked down 58%. So instead of +/-R25000 in RSA there it was for $899.

So while I was wondering how to get it from the States to RSA I stumbled over the websites of MyUSA.com and Reship.com.

These sites offer you a unique virtual US address to which you can have your items shipped. They will check it for you and then ship it to RSA. Reship even saves you on the US sales tax. The shipping of a frame seems to sit in the region of 230$ plus the usual fees and VAT in RSA.

Does anybody have experience with any of these?

I have used MyUSA.com several times and they were very good. Tracking system is nice, you can see where your parcel is in the States and when it gets to SA as well as where it is in SA.

I used MyUSA for several years without incident. So mixed reports on this one.

I've got near 300 positive feedback on eBay since 2001 and MyUs was the worst decision I've ever made. Not going to go into details but once your parcel is in their hands, you have no control over what happens next. Dealing with MyUS literally shortened my life by a few years.

I'm not alone:

Rather use reship or Shipito

a bit late but here is my take on reship.com

By far the worst service I've ever received from a company ever!

After opening an account and getting everything in order I had three packages shipped to my suite (Suite #K68911). Just before the last package are due to be delivered I get an email that my account has been deactivated!

Unbeknown to me for some reason my registration fee was reversed for some or other reason and this apparently flagged some fraud alerts and they promptly deactivated my account without even trying to rectify or try to contact me to try and solve the situation.

I made numerous proposals and attempts to try and rectify this situation, even informing them that I was willing to even wait for them to make sure their money was safe in their account before they ship so there is no financial risk to them.

I even gave them permission to contact Paypal to verify that I'm a legit buyer, but alas I was unsuccessful to resolve the matter.

According to them I need to contact the original vendors and get them to supply pre-paid return shipping labels at their/my cost. This is a big inconvenience for them and they are reluctant to do so and hugely humiliating for me.

So to date I'm still battling to get this mess sorted out, their correspondence is also extremely slow, takes around 1 business day (although this probably due to the time difference) and this is very frustrating.

Instead of this a straight forward transaction this has turned into an extremely frustrating and stressful event. I still don't know what's going to happen to my paid for parcels.

And to think I only used Reship this time because I felt their shipping rates were a little cheaper than MyUS.com that I had used previously.

I will update this review as things progress.

Regards

Marius

I wish I had read posts about reship.com before. They advertise and create good PR in the Internet, so it was easy to find good articles about them. Only later I found forums and comments from users who told the truth and shared their unpleasant experience.

Dude, you are quoting/debating with yourself here .... I recon you are a troll, ex reship employee or work for their competition?

I'll be using Stackry  (www.stackry.com) within the next couple of weeks to consolidate purchases from a number of US suppliers.

I've used Shipito for various things including my Niner frame, and Moto360 watch this year.  Jenson are pretty cool about shipping to Shipito.  Have a look at all the options and get them to take photos and consolidate packages etc (pay the extra $10 for an advanced account) and compare the shipping options.  Generally TNT Express have been best value for me.  Don't use USPS in the short term as once in South Africa, it enters the SA postal system and your package may never arrive.

Have used myusa.com a number of times. No problems. It isnt cheap so i only use it on full bikes, as the costs are a smaller percentage
