Sealant in tubbies?

Mongoose!

Recommended Posts

Hi,

what sealant should I use in my tubby wheels?

Stans(Latex) makes solid balls after a while

Any magic stuff out there which I don’t know of?

Thanks! ;)

I carry sealant in the bottle. Had a stan's little 1, now i carry Tufo. Never needed it on a ride - YET!

I don't wanna guess if there's sealant in there still or not, rock up @ a race and then discover it's all evaporated/dry and now you have 0 plan.

If i was riding clinchers, i'd need to stop & change a tube, so to remove the valve core, fill & pump is the same thing to me.

Have seen it seal during 94.7 2 years ago on a fellow riders wheel so if you check the sealant, you could save yourself a few minutes.

Might move to 1 of those air pressure sealant tin things, so you just put it on, inflate. Saves you taking out the valve core etc.

I run a little sludge in my tubbies, but stans also work well.

Just grease your valves well as it sometimes clogs up so then u cant pump them, but I am pretty happy with mine so far :)

Jip lots of MAGIC out there...

Stans wil coagulate (form balls)... You rather need a latex Foam that will spread under pressure inside the tubby.

Two products that we stock are Vittoria (or Geax) Pitstop or the Zefal Repair and Inflate. Both these can be used preventatively as well as actually during race when you puncture.

Hi guys,

Bit of a noob question which I hope someone can help me with.

I have a GT Zaskar 29er. It is fitted with tubed Maxxis Aspen Tyres (29x2.1 (52-622) ).

I bought new tubes yesterday which have sealant in them , Veloride Tube 29 x 1.75/2.125 self sealing tubes.

Would these tubes be suitable for the above mentioned tyre ? As the original tube which I took out of the tyre had the dimensions 29 x 1.9/2.35 printed on it.

Thanks

Should be fine.

The original tube just covers a larger tyre size too.

I use batseal in my tubbies...so far so good.

Do you use it preventatively or only once punctured.?
