The calliper and lever that set the benchmark.

I know of a factory stock 2001 GT DHi with those original brakes stored away in a safe place. It belonged to one of the GT factory team riders as a backup bike in the 2000 season. Unbelievable power.

And of course these, long before the sport got swamped by posers who can afford to buy the MTB look.

That's the one. He sold it on to a mate of mine. He still has it. Can't remember exactly who's bike it was on the team.

And the guys who wanted to sport some serious bling with mega power opted for this.

Wyatt Earp, I have a set of every single one of those brakes in working order. The evolution of stopping. Well played.

Ah Tevez and Escapee.... Do you guys want my lunch money too?

Maybe start giving out virtual wedgies?

Cheers dudes. You guys are awesome. No, I like you. You can make my words big.....

If it is the same bike, I was the last person to bleed those brakes provided they remained untouched.

Very cool. The bike was raced and professionally maintained for one season before it went to storage. Still perfect 12 years later.

This one is for Madmarc, just to show how interested Shimano are in downhill, have been in downhill and how innovative they can be.

This was used on the WC circuit by a few riders.

This was in protype stage in the 1998 World Cup in Stellenbosch. Got a nice and close up view of it. Very interesting tech that sadly didn't go far. Great piece of engineering innovation.

Excuse my ignorance, but why store a bike for 12 years?

Owner moved to the UK. Bike will be on display in his house when he moves back to SA.

Very nice collectors item.

Yeah, I remember Brian Lopes and Mike King had this on their sleds.
