I am building a 27.5 machine and almost have everything together to start the build or rather complete it.

Been looking at wheelsets:

Apart from these, which can you guys recommend.

I will be doing mostly XC style races but also the occasional jump n play session (although I have 2 26ers that suit that purpose at the moment)

I also want to (already bought the fork ;) ) go through axle as opposed to QR.

Any advise will be greatly appreciated.

What I forgot to mention is that I don't really want to spend more than 6k if possible.

I know there are many aweeeesome combinations one can build up but for now they must be as close as possible to 1500g and with the price constraint as above...

I'm running the ProLite Aragons, and really loving them! Light enough to race (did full Hill2Hill on them) but strong enough to handle anything Cascades PMB has to throw at them!

And the hubs, how are they?

I think for a couple bucks more I'd rather go for the American Classic Race 650bs?

They are more trail wheels compared to the American classics... Hubs are awesome and roll beautifully. Come with all the adapters for front and back, so better compatibility if you change frames!

Citec Ascender S 650B will be arriving mid December if you can wait that long.

They are MOER nice but too expensive for what I want them for. Be too afraid to scratch or break them

hehehe I should hope so ;)

Chukky is the man for helping me arrange them!

I'll be at Modders at 3pm - ditch work, join me and a 33 High Road Pale Ale is yours afterwards....

Edit: That offer extends to both of you - or any other hubber that joins us :-)

For the little difference in weight I'd go for the FlowTrails. Seriously considering them for my Ibis HDR build. If you do the odd jump or drop then I wouldn't recommend the AMC Race wheels.

Modderfontein Bike Park - also called Central Park Trail.

Awesome place for a fun not too technical ride. "Standard" post ride hang out is a restaurent called 33 High Road - they do awesome food and have both a micro brewery and a coffee roaster.

Riding, beer, coffee and good food. Life does not get better than that!
