Rides and tips round Hoedspruit/ Tzaneen

Hi all,

My name is Benjamin and i'm from the Netherlands. In January I'm visiting South Africa. Landing on Johannesburg and then travelling to friends in Hoedspruit.

I love road cycling and would love to do some rides and climbs during my vacation. As said I'm situated in Hoedspruit but I am more than willing to travel some miles/ drive multiple hours (and staying some nights) if there are good climbs or groups to ride with.

I also would like to ask for tips for bike rental there. Maybe some websites?

Thanks a lot in advance!

Benjamin

Thanks both! Strava is a good one, but not always clear what kind of road it is.

I'm more experienced with road cycling, but MTB riding is a possibilty as well.

Will for sure contact the cycle club in Tzaneen!

Thanks!

Hoedspruit is not that far from Graskop and Sabie. Some if the best road climbs in SA!

True, clearly had a brainfart

Hi

I'm the chairperson of the Tzaneen Cycling club.

Please contact me on dorothyrood@gmail.com when you are in Tzaneen / Hoedspruit and I'll try and get you on some rides.

As far as a bike, are you bringing your own?

We have weekly road / mtb rides of all sorts of distances and fitness levels, so please let me know what will suite you best...

Just remember, no flat roads around here...And yes, we have some interesting climbs like Magoebaskloof, Agatha and Coach house...

See you soon...

Dorothy

Sabie mtb marathon some time in Feb if you will be around, that is really not to be missed.

Roads here are seriously unsafe, both for driving and even more for cycling, so try plan mtb as much as possible

Give Dot a call, she will hook you up and we will see you on the road!

Seriously though, much safer on the MTB here and we have a lot of mountain to explore.
