grumpy Posted November 5, 2013 Share Hi Guys Is there anyone who has converted a 26" Giant Anthem X to 27.5"? I checked the chain stay distances on both the 26" and 27.5" Giants and the difference is 9mm if I recall correctly. Thus if I am right the 27.5" wheel should fit (barely). I don't want to buy new wheels and tires before getting confirmation that it will work
shaper Posted November 5, 2013 Share Take your bike to your LBS, they should have 650b wheels that you can try to check. You may also have to change your fork

scott Posted November 5, 2013 Share bike turns easier , pedals with less effort .bike is a little lighter and changes direction beta than 29im not the fittest or fastest on a bike and find the 650 easier to ride.im using ARDENT 27-5 x 2-25 tyresfind that im sitting more in the bike than on it as what can happen with some26 converted to 27-5 bikes

Ceres Posted November 5, 2013 Share As far as I know you can not convert a anthem 26er to 650b, not enough space at the back.
Eugene Posted November 6, 2013 Share Just be careful. The chain stays normally narrow around the wheel (if that makes sense). A bigger wheel will therefore "move" into that narrowed section. The chainstay might be long enough to fit a 650b wheel, but the width between the two of them might not be wide enough. Some people overcome this by fitting a narrower 2.1 tyre, but this may not be enough. Look at the stays from the top and try to visualise where the bigger wheel will end. Then compare that spot to the width of the tyre.
TheDB55 Posted June 28, 2016 Share Is it not feasible to swap the rear triangle?
Captain Fastbastard Mayhem Posted June 28, 2016 Share Holy thread resurrection, batman! And no. Different mounting points and changes to the dimensions. It'll probably fit, but not be ideal.

marshace Posted October 5, 2016 Share Have converted a 26 " Anthem to a 29 er by replacing rear swing arm and front fork. Yes head angle changed a bit but it turned out to be great for long distance endurance events.
