Mavic Ksyrium SL model year?

Can anyone tell me roughly the year of these wheels?

I would say 2004, the 2005 versions had the silver spokes...

Yup, these were the firts SL rims. Must be 2004

I got my Cannondale in 2003 if memory serves me correctly so thats the year...

Were you thinking of buying them?

I have a set of 08 Ksyrium Equipes and these SL's have been sitting on a trainer theor whole life, so thinking about it.

 

Anything I should be weary of?

 

Bearings are super smooth and wheels are perfectly true, roll like a dream.

Then they should be worth it. I have the silver ones - 2005/6 and not a single problem since 2009 when I bought them. Bearings haven't even been replaced yet (by me anyway) and have never needed truing either. I do 5000km a year on dodgy CT roads!

Beware of these wheels if you are a heavy rider...they just don't last. I had a set of the later (silver) ones. The rims started cracking at the nipples after a year. Mavic replaced then replaced the rims and the spokes and not even a year later the same problem. If you below 85kg's these should be fine.

The earlier Ksyrium ELites (also silver) are bomb proof- I had a set of these with no problems.
