What happened to the other 10 000 cyclist?

And you are entitled to your opinion, but the winning time for Argus was 2:39 where 94.7 was 2:08. That is a huge difference in difficulty

 

There just happens to be the odd extra 10km for the Argus

That depends on your level of suffering I suppose...or your seeding

We always used to ride the Argus route the Thursday before and vowed that the best Argus is without 35k other riders on the road

 

Interestingly my son came up from CT to race and he said its far "better"than the Argus due to the smaller Elite group.He said it was much safer and he was surrounded by quality riders.

As for the scenary he said he did not have time to notice

Thefore, in my opinion, there extra distance of the Argus is offset by the difficult nature of the 94.7 course.

 

If that was true I would expect the average speed of the winners on the Argus to be faster of the average speed of the winners of the 94.7 and AFAIK its usually the other way around.

 

I think you also forgot to mention that other little factor that's usually more prevalent in the Cape i.e. wind...
