Rear hanger manufacturing?

I am at the very beginning stages of my SS project (as in I have nothing, but getting there).

 

My wife's cousin is doing me a big favour by donating a bunch of his old parts off his old Volcan XC3, including the frame.

 

Problem is he had a huge crash with it way back and it seems the rear derailleur hanger snapped off:

 

 

Since I am going SS, it don't need a whole new hanger, but will need something holding the axle in place.

 

Can this be machined / saved?

You could get it welded up - but probably that will cost more to do than to buy a new one.

Was going to suggest a new one...

 

but it seems like it's very hard to get spares out of the Volcan agents.

Yeah they don't make them anymore. Will have to go manufactured.

try your lbs, they usually have an assortment of hangers both new and used... you might get lucky!

No Volcan listed on that site though... one may have to find out it's unbranded/alternatively branded name.
