Did 45km on it this weekend, very cool. Climbs lekker, but can get a bit scary when going down very fast.

On tech sections its so stable makes it feel very safe.

I had slx shifters and a rear Derailer from a previous conversion. I changed the rear cassette and chain and it worked 100%. The cassette fitted on the free body to the mm. I also changed the brakes to XT which has also helped as the bike is a lot heavier to stop. The bike is now nicely specced and is great fun.

Excellent, thanks! I have a brand new SLX 10x shifter & Deore+ RD just waiting to be put to good use. So no changes needed to the freehub or front chainring or deraileur then?

Agreed on the brakes, these fatties doesn't stop easily. Upgraded to SLX rotors already, but I'm also looking at better calipers, was just not sure if it would make such a big difference?

Nice mudguard btw!

There's a guy in Centurion in the area of Rooihuiskraal Road that I've seen a few times. Black bike with orange decals, looks awesome. Maybe one day, as an n +1 to my 26".

Saw a Raleigh one over the holidays at Makro for 3.5K, weighed a ton.

Finaly got my Fatty ....Jipee

Bike looks awesome!

Two questions:

Am I right in saying the bike is a Mongoose?

Secondly, the car behind looks like a Forrester, yes? I'm looking at getting one second hand... Any comments or insights?

Thanks!
