Sifter cable and housing Shimano/SRAM

I ride a Shimano group set bike, my wife is on a Cannondale with SRAM group set.

 

Is there a difference between the shifter cable and housing?

 

Can I use the Shimano Housing and cables on the SRAM shifters (I haven't looked)?

No it wont work, sell the SPAM and get her Shimano.

Ignore the trolls. It will work just fine.

Go to the workshop and ask for cable and housing, they will sell it to you per metre and it's much cheaper then the brand names.
