Strava vs Endomondo

I have used both, and I have a question.

On my usual 28-29km ride at northern farms, Endomondo gives me around 1600-1800 calories burnt, whereas strava said 650???

Which is right? Weight, age height etc the same in both.

I rode yesterday with VitalityFit App and Endomondo, one measured 15 odd km, the other 13.

there's always odd discrepencies between the apps.

On an aside (and small hijack) - if you start and end at the same place - why is total ascent and total decent not the same? for example on a green ride at modders 1685 m ascent - descent is 135.

They are not both using the same unit of measure. Guesstimated calories is a minefield.

I only get a few hundred metres discrepancy between different apps at most. I wonder how fast you need to be moving for Autopause to be deactivated?

Well now I added the weight of the bike it went to 1063 calories. Still way lower than endomondo.

Wonder which is right

Only way to know is an actual test (and then it is only valid for THAT test)

Estimated calories is as useful as estimated power stats.

use it, don't use it

I read somewhere else on the hub (so it must be true) that the barometric pressure is used to calculate that. So early in the morning and then 3 hours later it differs so the device doesn't think that your start and end point has the same altitude (even if it is the same place). Weird.

Just have a beer after your ride, that should sort out the difference!

I reckon the 650 cal is more accurate.Did a ride this morning using my polar.55km in 2hrs22min @ avg heart rate of 68% 1100 Cal and this afternoon a casual 30km ride in 1hr40min @ avg heart rate of 55% and only 315 cal burnt. All depends on time and work output.(intensity).Cheers and happy riding
