If thats the case then it took my 4 minutes to cross the line starting in E I suppose thats just the way it is with what 16000 people and all. Not fused but as you say need to run some seeding races before to start closer to the gun

A friend started from near the back of D her gun to start mat delay was 2:30, my sister started from somewhere in E her delay was 1:12, I started from the front of C my delay was 00:22, so it seems that unless you are in C or higher, rather drop back and start from E (but get there early)... Ultimately that means that to achieve the desired purpose, they should start A, B & C in one wave, and then D and E in another, so that D still get the perk of having taken the effort to seed. At the moment they are the biggest losers in the whole thing.

What is the qualifying time for D?

Does 2minutes REALLY affect their race?

I am not saying it doesn't, but my thinking is that it may be time that shows you have done a race in the past year so you don't start right at the back but at the same time, 2 minutes doesn't really matter to your overall time?

Doesnt really affect it, should actually cater for it when setting a goal.

I don't think the 2 min itself really affects your time, but being that far down the field the 2 plus minutes is just a premonition of what is to come with the field slowing to a walk through all the bends and road narrowings early in the race, I dropped back and started with friends in D last year, NEVER EVER EVER again! The difference between C and D is immense and costs much more than just the initial 2-3 min.

I think if you have certain goals (example doing a sub 2 hrs on the half) then getting the appropriate seeding (example C or B) is relevant. The first year I started in D I did 2:06 and realized if I want to do sub 2 hrs I will have to get in C (as southern cross drive was full of walkers by the time I tried to run up there and then you waste energy swerving across the road). So, my C seeding on similar fitness got me a sub 2hrs the next year and southern cross drive wasn't full of walkers.

If you're running for fun with no time goals, then the seeding isn't really an issue as 2 or 3 minutes to get over the start is part of the race/fun.
