Tough day for me in D, popped the hell out of myself trying to support my wingman half way up Hillsnax. (only to have my legs totally killed by Robbert broom drag). Got to Lionpark then stopped to fix his chain which I first had to go find at the top of Lionpark Climb, rode back down , repaired , then back on with cold legs ... bleeding gums ... urgghhhh ...Those last 3 kms were hell !!!

Maropeng stretch : There was a guy on a stunning 29er, Black BMC softail (dude... catch a wake-up, you need to hold your line, swaying between the shoulder and white line almost taking out several of us was not cool) . It was a joke , he held a peloton off cos we were to scared to pass. Anyway... anybody see the tiny kid (looked like a 12 year old), he stuck in the bunch with a smile (i was impressed)

Well done to all ... some awesome results

Our club got podiums in elites ladies, juniors, and vets ... hey , hey, hey

Guy who won B has been a Vet for ages, did a 2h28 at the fast one......

What time did the 1st BL group come in, and approximately how many were there?

The break away was 2:50 something, while the chasing bunch caught me at just under 3 hours, well i was passed by 8 riders somehow while I only counted like 3, but there as a fair number of riders so I didnt see if they were all Bs or not.

The 2 "older" gents were both placed in B on their numbers, so nothing dodgy I think

Not sure about all the technical jargon, but I went up some hills and came done others and finished in 2.33. Not quite what I wanted but just happy that I was not the last person up that Kdrp hill, as I WAS in the last group leaving the start I had visions of me coming in after all the tents have left the venue. Whoohooo. Well done guys glad you all did your good times and see you all at the next race. (Not the Ride for Site, for me)

did you do the 102 and finish in 2:33???

Anyways it was a good race I had no issues, marshals were good etc, just the mechanical issues.

Will have to wait till next year.

Anybody know of any other races that has a similar profile to this?

I know R4s & National steel classic are both flat

the only race in the near future with some hills is the Wilro. Alternatively wait until later the year for the D2D ;)

No Rastaman, I was in the last group leaving that would put me in the 55km group. No no unless its enjoyable I wont be doing the big rides, that would definately take all day. I barely do the Argus in 5 hours and thats without stopping for a drink at the Brass Bell or anywhere else people are always saying they stop for a "lunch".

well done then, its a good time. But you know long rides aren't mpossible, just need to train right. Stress ur body then recover, stress then recover etc.

My wife did a 2:49 last year on the 55 km course, this year she did the full one in 4:27, so it is possible ;)

Goodluck

The wilro is also very flat imho.

Has anyone done the jakaranda pre argus ride?

Il do the jock before the d2d though.

So no other climby races for the season in jhb?

Luckily I am doing the argus so that will be a bit of a challenge too
