No price is set but expect the cost to mimic that of a carbon fiber frame. The new process could revolutionize the way mountain bikes are made and the speed at which that can be developed.

The printed parts before they are welded and heat treated.

We do the same laser fusing/sintering process in tool steel and titanium. It is pretty cool to use this tech for producing frames, I can just tell you that those guys spent many many hours post processing those parts before they could assemble. MANY HOURS! :whistling:

Cough cough bloody expensive cough........

World's First 3D Printed Bike

Without doubt, the most interesting bike at this weekend’s London Bike Show is Empire’s 3D printed titanium trail bike. Based on the brand’s innovative 6in-travel aluminium MX6, the titanium prototype is a collaboration with additive manufacturing firmRenishaw and was built in the UK. We spoke to Empire’s Chris Williams about the project, and about 3D printing’s likely role in the future of the bike industry.
