Flip, thats a big detour, so no driving even early enough that they are away and ahead of the first cyclest??

Its my parents and they are old and I dont want them to drive too long to get to Knysna.....maybe we must then rather sleep in Knysna and me just getting a lift...we would have just camped at the hall...we are campers...I did the race last in 2001...so cant remember anymore "what and where"

Someone mentioned a shuttle service from Knysna...any details on who they are??

The shuttle service will be fully booked, you can try the race organisers. We sleep in George and drive through in the morning, our wives drive back via George. Beats the long wait for us.

That is dirt cheap and worth every cent. Nice to know, will inform my mate who has left it too late. Thanks again.

in terms of route, road surface, road works, distance, etc. is it better to stay in George or Knysna?

If you have a lift from Knysna(via the mtb route) its better from there. If you don`t then George should be better as you dont have to get up so early. George is an hour from Uniondale, nice straight road once you are over the mountain pass in George. Last year they had road works from Knysna to George thats why the race started a little later.

On the K2C website you can find a number for the shuttles from Knysna to Uniondale. I paid 2 months ago to secure the last two seats on the shutlle we used last year. You might get a spot if you phone them and they might have a number for another shuttle

Looks like you gonna leave earlier this year with the road works.

It is far better travelling on the tar road via George. Travelling through the Prince Alfreds pass takes much longer, the road is not in a very good condition. It is fine if you are taking a scenic drive but not if you want to get from a to b.

im usually upfront with the race snakes, will be aiming for a sub4, the one I didn't get in 2012 due to camping on that field.
