Should a new fork come with a star nut ?

Just got a new fork, Still in the box.

 

It doesn't have a star nut to go down the steerer tube or a cable housing for the remote lock out. Am I expecting too much.

Dont think so...comes with headset usually if I am correct. Unless carbon steerer, then you will get a expander thingamabobnut.

 

Cablehousing should be there though. My Reba came with cable outers for remotelock

Yip. They usually come with a headset. You can buy just the starnut, bolt and headset cover on their own if you don't need a whole headset.

Comes with headset. Your LBS probably has a bunch in their workshop.

The headset came with the frame but without the starnut thingy.

Don't use a star nut in a carbon steerer. It has sharp edges that dig into the carbon. You rather want an expanding bung-type arrangement. LBS should know what you're talking about.

Star nuts are like 10bucks and takes 5sec to knock in, no biggie, as for the housing, you should probably have that
