Nope, France is my country of birth and still have family members to visit there

Aaah nice! There are atleast three of the Hakahana trail builders/organisers going for the two week riding trip in July.

How much was the entry for Avalanche last year? I see it is up to R990

3. For a next event i would suggest having practice and registration on the Sat and the race on the Sunday. Especially where you have some proper features that could be dangerous when ridden blind, I feel its best to allow some practice.

I disagree about practice days. One of the nicest things about the enduros I've taken part in is that ALL the participants rode the course blind. I'm thinking of Giba especially. Okay Dave Drummond had helped set up the course but he did ride on the day with the good part of a six pack clattering around in his backpack.

Making all riders hit the course blind means not only is everyone on a level peg but it also tests out a riders ability to anticipate, make a quick judgement and deal with the course as it comes.

Problem is the locals will always have an advantage because they will have been riding the course for weeks prior to the event.

So even though I agree with you if no one rode the course before, it is almost impossible practically

Having everyone riding blind would be very cool but unfortunately we cant build new trails for every event :) Even on professional racing circuits you will get the guys who just know certain tracks really well. I don't think there is any way around it.

There is also an additional element in that guys are able to practice certain lines to get them dialled and I think that this helps the progression of the sport. You can also focus on the tracks in your area and do better in those events where other guys may be at a disadvantage. When a race is part of a series on different tracks, this all evens out anyway.

Thanks for the feedback Radman

I didn't do the event, but Hakahana is one of my favourite trails. We've done SP1 & 3 - will go do 2 soon :-)

What I don't understand is people quick to comment.

We're definately not spoiled for options when it comes to riding in GP.

I'm just thankful for guys like Johan that puts up land, invests a lot of time and money into the trails at Hakahana! And based on an day pass price he is probably not even getting back what he invested.

Also greatful for the guys that took the 'enduro' initiative and extended the trails. Also spending their own time and money doing so! I met a couple of them there whilst they were building - it was 34degrees on my garmin and they were building trails!!

Johan & kie is doing a great job with these trails; long live Hakahana!
